Katarzyna Krakowiak’s sound sculpture was commissioned as part of a multifaceted project that revisited the Fluxus artist Alison Knowles’ pioneering works. Rooted in experimental practices, The House of Dust (1967) was one of the first computer-generated poems, created with a FORTRAN program and developed with the composer James Tenney.
Katarzyna Krakowiak-Bałka is an artist who creates sculptures, performances, objects, compositions and sound installations that investigate languages used to describe architecture. Exploring the borders of architecture, Krakowiak builds large-scale installations based on existing structures to generate acoustic environments allowing viewers-listeners to blend in the artwork and encounter architecture through sound.
