The WRO Media Art Biennale, held every two years in Wroclaw, is one of the most important events in Poland and Europe devoted to contemporary art. It presents the works of international artists who create their works using new media, commenting on today’s technology and society. This year, the jubilee edition of the WRO Biennale is held – WRO was created 30 years ago!
On this occasion, the upcoming edition of the Little WRO, a special program directed to children and their relatives, will be ahead of us, and 30 will become its leading number. Together, we will prepare a Guide, in which we will describe 30 works, with the help of 30 children and adults involved in the publication. We will tell other children and adults about thirty works of art – fifteen selected from this year’s Biennale program and fifteen from the WRO archives. Piotr Krajewski, artistic director of the WRO Biennale and Magdalena Kreis, curator of Little WRO, will show you selected works and invite you to talk about them.
We encourage family tandems to participate in the project – a child (from the age of 5) and a parent/relative. We will work with fifteen such duets, and each of them will receive a few works – one new and one older. The task of a given team will be to create a short description of the works, gathering the associated associations, photos, drawings and notes. We are interested in various interpretations and your directions of thinking about the works, and the collected materials will be used to develop the Little WRO Guidebook.
If you want to participate in the project, please fill out the short application form: HERE (open call is closed).
In recent years, as part of the Little WRO, two Guides have already been created that have led young viewers through biennial exhibitions, we will gladly show them to you during your visit to WRO. We will inform you about the organizational meeting by email.
