The project consists of four scenes inspired by fashion films. The goal was to create moving postcards aimed at the high-fashion audience, straight from the depths of the provincial countryside. The scenes set against rural backdrops are enriched with abstract set design elements, such as a modern sports car or DJ equipment. The models presenting the outfits are engaged in monotonous activities that seem out of place in the context.

The combination of the world of fashion and design with the rural landscape is a personal interpretation of cultural codes observed in smaller towns. Selected visual elements from the scenes reflect individual experiences and observations of life in the provinces.

Although the clothes and accessories in the scenes seem to be the last thing the viewer notices, they are actually the main reason the film sequences were created. In them, we see the artist’s latest collection, Cottage(hard)core, which is a bold, honest, and rebellious response to the visual aesthetics of the contemporary Polish countryside – as the artist has observed it for years.

The video recordings serve as a commentary on the artist’s cultural identity and her inability to find a place for her fashion work in her hometown. The locations shown in the footage also serve as sources of inspiration for the collection.

Martyna Konieczny – fashion designer, visual artist. She runs her own brand, No przesada, for which she received the Wiosło Kultury award in 2024. She holds a master’s degree from the Institute of Fashion at the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź. For many years, she has been actively involved with the Działania Foundation, with which she created the Łódź-based POKAZ NA ULICY (fashion show on a street). To date, she has organized five original fashion shows in unconventional locations. She is currently expanding her expertise into footwear design, and her Cottage(hard)core collection was featured in GQ Poland magazine. She is interested in the mechanics of sewing machines and short films.
