A video about the search for a perfect wedding dress. A first-hand report of visits to salons – from the humblest tailor shop to a showroom with gowns from the international designers. Using a reality show convention, the artist became a temporary bride and put herself in the hands of store stylists who helped her choose the one and only. The price of the dresses she tried on ranged from 2,000 to 30,000 zlotys.

The secretly shot video outlines the wedding’s social significance – the most important day of life. The day when a woman wants to look the most beautiful in the world – just as she has dreamed. However, it soon turns out that most of them dream about the same thing. Everyone wants to look like a Disney princess or a mermaid.

This graduation project draws attention to the environment and system that imposes appropriate norms, stimulates needs, and produces artificial dreams about femininity and attractive body image. Is a wedding ring still a measure of feminine value nowadays?

Monika Falkus works in oil painting, creates installations and video works. She penetrates themes of love and female nature related to intimacy and sexuality.
