The project explores the tension between support and oppression in the relationship between humans and technology. It focuses on structures of protection and optimization that, over time, begin to act as a burden – forms that simultaneously support the body and limit its autonomy. The work illustrates ambition in both physical and symbolic dimensions, situating it within the dromological order of late capitalism, where technologies created as aids can become burdens that impose their own logic.
The central element of the installation is a humanoid figure positioned in a running start, wearing a structure resembling a backpack. The object was entirely designed and printed using resin 3D printing technology. Surrounding it is a series of sculptures composed of fragments of motorcycles and scooters – symbols of the never-ending technological race. The figure itself references the Running Man motif from the 1987 animated anthology Neo Tokyo, while the form as a whole remains suspended between the functions of assistance, protection, and parasitic burden.
The object performs mechanical movements and emits sounds whose intensity and character change in response to the viewer’s actions. The sound material consists of samples of machines, animals, and interface signals, processed by an AI model.
The project was created in collaboration with Franciszek Sobiech from the Faculty of Electrical, Electronic, Computer and Control Engineering at the Lodz University of Technology.
