On Wednesday, 4 March, at 6:00 PM, the WRO Art Center will host the Wrocław premiere of the film Żywa Galeria 2 (Living Gallery 2) directed by Józef Robakowski.

Żywa Galeria 2 is a contemporary continuation of Żywa Galeria, a film produced in 1975 that presents the Polish neo-avant-garde. That evening, we will show both films, which are exactly 50 years apart! They share a common formula – rigorous yet open – consisting of sequences of independent, one-and-a-half-minute recordings of artistic activities and statements. Each one presents a single person, their individual expression, with the only limitation being the duration of the video. The recordings combine into a message presenting the entire spectrum of creative practices and media evolution from 1975 to 2025. The screenings will be accompanied by Józef Robakowski’s director’s commentary, and the event will be moderated by Robert Jarosz.

The event inaugurates a new programme, Namiary, at the WRO Art Center. It is a series of irregular artistic meetings that map current phenomena in media art, exploring their ambiguity and multidimensionality. Presentations, talks, concerts, performances, and other pop-up forms that bring us closer to capturing and identifying the scope of media art. Both drift and compass. Together with invited artists, we explore potential, develop critical thinking, and share aesthetic experiences!
