Opening: March 19th, 2015 (Thursday), 5 PM
Offline, but under constant surveillance in the public space. On display, yet not to be scanned. Which form of everyday monitoring is acceptable for us?
Milan Kohout decided to move for one day the domestic sphere into the public space, i.e. one of the trams in Wrocław. Together with three other students of art mediation, he was traveling in crowded public transport, shifting behaviors, daily activities and items related to the private space, and raising issues of place relevance and examining its social acceptance.
The multiscreen video installation documents the performance of Milan Kohout, a Czech performer, who in November 2014 took part in the symposium Art mediation in public space organized by the Department of Art Mediation of the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Fine Art and Design in Wrocław as part of the ECC 2016 project “Wrocław: The Backyard Door” within the Visual Arts program. The curator of the ECC 2016 Visual Arts program is Michał Bieniek.
