Info
Since 2004 the Foundation WRO Art Center, in the framework of a long-term cooperation and artistic exchange agreement between the Alsace and Lower Silesia regions, has coordinated projects in the area of audiovisual arts.
In 2007–2009 the cooperation included a programme of two-month residencies for artists and three-month research residencies for curators in the media art area. In the course of the atists-in-residence programs three artists from Wrocław visited Centre Européen d’Actions Artistiques Contemporaines in Strasburg, whereas three artists from Alsace, who developed their various projects at the WRO Art Center, starting from their original artistic concepts pursued utilisation of tools and inspirations resulting from their exploration of new territories.
The domains of geography, culture, language and interaction inspired creative and curator projects that otherwise, without having made technologies, resources, databases, and contact networks mutually available, as well as personal relations established, wouldn’t be feasible. The Art-in-residence exhibition features projects, installations, and documentation of actions created owing to this exchange. It is held in the WRO 09 Expanded City framework, followed by its second act in Strasburg. Its complementary component consists in two curatorial programs, Curators-in-residence, resulting from selection of works from the WRO Art Center and Fonds Regional d’Art Contemporain collections in Alsace.
