The Mains d’Oeuvres art centre in Paris hosts the opening of La Flamme, an exhibition prepared in collaboration with WRO Art Center, on 4 May.
The exhibition, accompanying the Paris Olympic Games has as its theme the flame – interpreted both as a starting point for reflections on struggle, and contestation but also love, uniting in a common goal, desires, and aspirations. The flame here is an expression of ambivalence, being a symbol of heat, of kindling hope, at the same time consuming, destroying, and threatening.
Nine artists are participating in the exhibition, including Karolina Freino and Julia Kurek, who have exhibited at WRO many times. Curated by Klio Krajewska, the exhibition runs until 10 August.
