Come on in and join a workshop with Stanza (GB), author of The Nemesis Machine: from Metropolis to Megalopolis to Ecumenopolis installation. The workshop will be an opportunity to create a Wroclaw-based version of the work. For a few days, WRO Art Center will turn into an open laboratory where the new elements of The Nemesis Machine will be developed.
See the documentation of the installation HERE.
As the artist says, “I’m hacking access to a network and re-appropriating the data and information, and I’m re-contextualizing it to give it a wider meaning. I want to show that you can do something positive with this data. I believe that data is the medium of the age. The real world is made virtual and the virtual is made real again.”
With more than 400 used computer motherboards, we will build new towers of this electronic city. Team up with us and build so far the largest version of the project with which we will open another exhibition within the 17th Media Art Biennale WRO 2017 DRAFT SYSTEMS on June 16, 2017 at WRO Art Center.
No special skills are required to participate in the workshop, but your willingness and time. You don’t need to bring any materials nor equipment – we’ll have it all, just put your workwear on and come on! It might get noisy and dusty! There is no age limit; however, people under the age of 16 may attend the workshop only under adult supervision.
The workshop takes place on June 5-8, 2017 at 10 AM – 6 PM (with an hour lunch break on your own at 2-3 PM). You can join the group at any time. The workshop will be held in English and Polish. Don’t worry – we will help with the translation.
