Info

According to the scientific research, a human being will lose 21 grams weight after death. Therefore it is taken granted that human beings have souls. Souls are substantial and representable. The weight of souls is 21 grams. In this video, the contrast between bloody corpse and pale white souls is like a suspending, rootless clump, resisting against gravity but faiiling and falling to earth. The artist attempts to catch the moment that soul departs from flesh. In the unique aesthetic point of view, he guides viewers to think and confront gracefully the big issue of living for everyone.

Wang Ding-Yeh, born in 1978 in Taipei, he has received the degree of Meisterschule from the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts (Hochschule für Bildende Künste Dresden) in 2011. He specializes in video installation and painting. The themes of his works primarily focus on the issues concerning his own life, the society, and the environment. He firmly believes that people will be able to resist or connect themselves with the external world and meanwhile achieve self-healing through artistic creation. His works have been exhibited in Taiwan, the United States, Israel, France, Germany, Japan and Malaysia.
