On February 29, 2008, we opened the permanent headquarters of WRO Art Center on Widok Street with the Interactive Playground exhibition. The 10th birthday is the time to recapitulate, but we don’t cease to move on! The Interactive Playground exhibition has returned in its jubilee, revamped version as Signals / Interactive Playground.

In 2018, it is also 30 years since the founding of the WRO Open Studio – an independent co-operative of artists, researchers and avant-garde art lovers, whose initiators were Piotr Krajewski, Violetta Kutlubasis-Krajewska, Zbigniew Kupisz and Lech Janerka.

However, this isn’t the end of the celebration. We’re extending our birthday to 2019, when we’ll celebrate the 30th anniversary of the first edition of the international Sound Basis Visual Art Festival, which regularly takes place under the name of the WRO International Media Biennale since 1995, and has been invariably Poland’s leading and most important review of media art for 30 years.

On this occasion, when starting preparations for the upcoming 2019 WRO Biennale edition, we’re inviting you to follow the jubilee series of interviews, texts and meetings devoted to both the past and the future of WRO.
