Anna Manankina is our new resident within the Gaude Polonia scholarship programme for young cultural professionals from Central and East European countries. For the Gaude Polonia programme, Anna is planning to make a project connected with the main theme of Media Art Biennale WRO 2021 REVERSO and the history of Ukrainian media art rooted in the 90s. The project will be based on 360 video-animations created within a game engine and custom sound recordings.
Anna Manankina is an interdisciplinary media artist from Kharkiv, working in the field of digital media such as video, sound, 3D-animation with an emphasis on post-humanism and feminist practice. Anna’s practice covers a wide range of issues: from geopolitical situations and power structures to purely intimate spheres of life. She addresses the topic of violence and gender identity, the position of women in the artistic and social context.
Anna is a finalist of the cultural exchange program Exter (Ukrainian Institute) and is networked inter alia with the ROTOR Gallery (Graz, Austria), Fundacja ZPK (Lublin, Poland), NAWZAJEM (Warszawa/Poznań, Poland) participated in the “residence of REMAIN” programme (Trans-Media Academy Hellerau, Dresden, Germany). She also completed the American Art Incubator programme at the Izoliatsya platform (Kiev).
