Mieke Bal is an Amsterdam-based artist and cultural theorist known for her video works and publications translated into many languages.

During this exhibition, the story of Don Quichotte’s contemporary fate will appear scattered in space on over a dozen of monitors. The knight of sad countenances, described on the pages of Cervantes’ novel published at the beginning of the 17th century, has become a protagonist permanently inhabiting our culture, a symbol of entanglement ensnared in real and imagined affairs, crazy raptures, and deep disappointments.

Accompanying event:
May 15,2024, 5:00 PM – Mieke Bal’s lecture “Multi-tentacled Time: On Urgency” joint with a screening of “It’s About Time! Reflections on Urgency” in Oratorium Marianum, University of Wroclaw.
