SKATE CONCRETE
Test Exposure exhibition
Opening: Fri, 27.02.2015, 17:00
Marquise Ibirapuera – a roofed passageway leading through a park in the center of São Paulo – was designed by Oscar Niemeyer and constructed in 1954. Every evening, the modernistic structure, which organizes public space in a genuinely visionary way, becomes a magnet for roller-skaters, rollerbladers and cyclists.
Skate Concrete is an interactive multi-channel video installation inspired by that open architectural space and the harmonious communal expression it creates. Skate Concrete attempts to depict a state in which a sense of unconfined freedom co-exists with organization and individual expression.
The flowing lines of the concrete surfaces, the jumps, acrobatics and trajectories of the skaters moving through the space and the sounds multiplying as they echo off the spacious ceiling – modernistic architecture and concrete music combine in a freestyle esthetic experience.
Exhibition until 15.03.2015
